I wish I would have known about this earlier because I realize now how much I would have saved already. However, I opened a FREE Upromise account a few weeks ago shortly after my little boy was born. I was looking for ways to save money for his education when I stumbled upon this website. It will be a while until he is going to be ready for college but that gives me a lot of time to save some extra $.
So, what is Upromise? Upromise is a way to save money for college without really doing anything! You can save money for your kids, grandkids, nephews, nieces, or just a friend’s kid. It is a completely FREE service, and by adding your credit, debit or grocery card (the club cards you get at grocery stores or CVS, etc) means that you can begin saving money for college every time you shop at participating retailers or dine at participating restaurants. I personally didn’t get their credit card yet but if you have a monthly bill you pay right away, why not putting it on their card and earn extra money for yourself or your kids! Also, I usually don’t just add any card to an online profile but this site looks very secure.
So, what are different ways you can earn money with your Upromise account?
- Get your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles to sign up too! They can add their cards and have their earnings transferred to your account or to anyone they like. They can even split the spending between different accounts or kids. That way, everone will get a piece of it.
- At the beginning of each month, you will be able to add eCoupons to your grocery cards. When you buy those certain items at specific stores (the club card needs to be registered at your Upromise account), instead of the coupon being deducted from your purchase, your Upromise account will get credited.
- Do you ever eat out at restaurants? Check your Upromise account to see all the participating restaurants in your area. When you pay with a registered card you will receive a certain percentage back in your account (percentages depend on the restaurants).
- How about online purchases? Instead of going straight to the online site, go to your Upromise account first and click the link to the store you want to shop at to earn a percentage of your purchase! You can also send a link to your family and friends. If they click on the link first and then shop at those particpiating store, you will -once again- get credited.
- Get your gas at ExxonMobile because they give a percentage back to you for each gallon of gas you purchase.
- Do you read magazines? Buy your magazines through Upromise! Click on the magazines.com link and you will receive a percentage of your magazine purchase.
- Do you go on vacation? Book your travel through the Upromise website. Click on the expedia.com link to earn a percentage when when you travel!
How about a quick $5 when you sign up? Here’s an idea! After you’re signed up and you’ve registered your debit/credit cards, added our shopping cards and eCoupons to your Upromise account, get a fast auto quote from Liberty Mutual. Click the Auto tab on the left menu bar and scroll all the way down to Liberty Mutual. After you request a quote, you will get $5 added to you account! AND, who knows, the quote might be good surprise and you will possibly save on your car insurance.
