Learning the Rite Aid ropes!

Rite Aid

Whenever I write about deals at Rite Aid, I assume that they are the same across our nation. This being said, you want to make sure you consistently read the weekly advertisement circulars to double check available deals within your region. You should receive the circular in the mail, or if that is not the case, you can find them in the Sunday Paper, view the online version on the Rite Aid homepage, or you can pick one up at your local Rite Aid store.

In June 2010, RiteAid has added a wellness rewards card (sign up HERE) with +UP rewards and printed Video Value Coupons to their previous Single Check Rebates (SCR) system. This is what these 3 systems are about:

Printed Video Values: All you will have to do, is head over to their Video Value Webpage HERE. You will have to create an account or log in. Then you can choose different commercials you can watch in return of coupons or additional savings. The same batch of coupons stays up on that webpage for one month. You will have to watch and print the coupons during that specific month but they will be good for an additional month. Once you have watched the video, it will be marked as seen. At the end of the month they will get replaced by a new batch. These coupons are Rite Aid coupons, so they can be stacked with regular manufacturer coupons!

+UP Rewards:

  • Each week, Rite Aid will list items in the weekly circular that qualify for +UP Rewards.  As with the SCR deals, the UPR deals are also tagged on the shelf in the store!
  • In order for the UPR to print out at the end of the transaction, you will need to have a Wellness+ card.
  • You will also need the Wellness+ card to redeem the points! Once you get to 500 points (silver status) you will get 10% of regular priced non-prescription  items in the store, once you will get to 1000 points (gold status) you will receive 20% off regular priced non-prescription items in the store. If you receive the gold status by June 2011, you will be able to keep the Gold status until December 2012. However, the points will reset again in January 2012 for the following year 2013… Are you still with me?…
  • Don’t worry if you happen to forget the card on your shopping trip! The cashier can look up your account by phone number!
  • The reward will print out at the bottom of your receipt once you have fulfilled the quantity requirement for that specific UPR deal.
  • You can then use that specific coupon to pay for your next purchase. Be aware though, you won’t get any money back since they can’t adjust your coupon down. You will have to use filler items to avoid overage!
  • The coupons are rolling! YEAH. This means that if you get a coupon from a specific UPR deal , e.g. Nivea Lip Care you can use the coupon on the next purchase of Nivea Lip Care and still receive a coupon!
  • There’s also a limit of a specific number of UPR per product (found in ad). Once that specified number is reached, no more UPR will print out.
  • There is a limit of 19 UPR that will print out in one transaction (from different products)
  • The UPRs seem to expire 2 weeks from the last day of the sale (Saturday).

Single Check Rebates (SCR): Rite Aid uses a Single Check Rebate (SCR) system. This means that selected products each week and each month are eligible for a SCR (one per household). Participating items can be found in both the weekly circular as well as the monthly Single Check Rebate book (available in the store or online). You don’t need a loyalty card (even though I strongly suggest to get one anyway, so you don’t miss any of the savings described above!) in order to participate in the SCR program. All you will have to do is go online and register for a Rite Aid account. It is very important to remember that this program only allows you to request one single check per month. If you buy eligible items in the beginning of the month and immediately request your refund check, you will not be able to participate in the program for the rest of the month. You will have to wait for new deals during the next month. Make sure to mark your calendar, so you won’t forget to request your check at the ennd of the month. Otherwise you will lose the option to do so.

Submitting your store receipts is easy; simply visit the online Rite Aid Site, log into your account and follow the instructions. Once logged in, you will be asked to enter the store number, register number, and transaction number from your Rite Aid receipt. Rite Aid will send you an email shortly after asking you to verify the information and in case of any errors to resubmit the receipt. Allow 2 – 5 days for the processing to complete. Once the processing is complete, your receipt status will no longer display “Waiting for Purchase Information to Confirm Your Rebate” and you will be notified by email. The email will also show a link to track your rebate. If you click on the link you will see all the rebates that are still processing and the rebates that have been completed already. You will also see the total of your current check and a Request button. At the end of the month, simply log back into your account and request your check by clicking on the Request button and a check will be sent to you within a couple of weeks! Tip: Enter your transactions as you make them during the month because it eliminates the possibility of lost or forgotten receipts.

Once you receive your Single Check Rebate, you have two options. You can either just deposit it like a regular check into your bank account or you can use it like cash at any Rite Aid store. Personally, I like to take the check to the local Rite Aid so I will be able to use it for further deals at Rite Aid without spending any out of pocket (OOP) money. But that is my personal preference.

Please Note: Rite Aid frequently offers gift card deals. They are usually advertised as “buy $50 worth of e.g. Johnson and Johnson items and receive a gift card for $25”. Just know that you don’t have to purchase all the products at once in order to be eligible for the deal. You can buy these items one by one and once you’ve qualified for the gift card, it will be added to all the other SCR deals. The rest just works like the SCR deals. These deals can often turn into moneymakers!

Coupons at Rite Aid

Rite Aid allows 1 manufacturer coupon, 1 Rite Aid in-ad coupon and 1 Video Value to be stacked and used at the same time for the same product. Any Rite Aid coupon with the bar code “RC” plus a serial number can be stacked with a manufacturer’s coupon.

Do you see the potential of these manufacturer or Rite Aid coupons combined with the single check rebate? Yes, that’s right; these deals can actually turn into moneymakers! In addition, Rite Aid frequently has “free after rebate” items and just for your information, using coupons will not reduce the amount of your Single Check Rebate.

It’s always a good idea to carry a coupon policy with you… just in case your cashier gives you trouble: Download the UPDATED RiteAid Coupon Policy (May 2011) as a PDF.

Rite Aid Deals Posts from Sassy Coupon Mommy

I post my deals in the following format:

  • Item and Price
  • - Coupon to use
  • = Price after Coupon
  • SCR or UPR earned
  • Final Price after Coupon, SCRs or UPR:

This way you can see what you will be paying OOP (out of pocket), the SCRs, UPRs you should earn and your final cost for all the item(s).

Thanks so much for all your wonderful information. I’m new to the coupon game, but I’m loving it. Just wanted to mention, the other day I used 4 IP Coupons at the Rite Aid here in New Hampshire and they accepted them all–totaled $9.00 in savings. It could have been a fluke, but just wanted to let your readers know. Also, how do you organize your all of your coupons? Thanks and keep up the good writing!

On the Printed Video Value coupons can I print out the coupons multiple times or just once?

Thanks

After you have watched the video, you can print the coupon once.
